ATRIO Shopping Center Villach: Bittner Intelligence

A sound system for three-dimensional sound collages, usable for a wide variety of top-class events, allowing announcements with excellent intelligibility, and meeting a maximum of safety requirements – these were the acoustical requirements for the acoustic effect system of the central Plaza (3000 square meters) and the forecourt of the new shopping mall ATRIO in Villach, Austria.

Amplifying technology and the sound processor LX 300 for variable room acoustics and sound effects were provided by MediasPro (Regional Office Austria). Customer was HALI Büromöbel GmbH. Acoustics Consulting, Vomp, Austria, is reponsible for design and tuning.

The combination of Bittner’s amplifying, control, and switching technology grants extraordinary sound as well as maximum reliability and control. A unique monitoring function controls operational reliability all along the signal transduction pathway. Monitoring during operation is either permanent or in set intervals, e.g. every 60 seconds. When switching to a backup-amplifier, all DSP settings such as EQ, level, or delay will be transferred automatically so that constant operation in unchanged quality is granted.

Twelve Bittner XR 1500 DSP power amplifiers have been installed. For control and switching one Bittner SXL and one Bittner AX16 are being used each for the Plaza and the forecourt.

Fohhn speakers AT 35, AT 09, and AS 30 meet the ambitious demands of the architects for the Plaza. Interfaces to the on-site alarm and evacuation system VARIODYN D1 allow safety announcements via the sound effect system.
