Bittner and VARIODYN D1: Power Play at the Helios Arena

The ice rink in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, is the home rink of the second league team Schwenninger Wild Wings and known for its great atmosphere. At the moment the stadium is being rebuilt into a multifunctional arena for up to 6300 visitors. Amplifying technology and an alert system for the new Helios Arena were supplied by MediasPro. Customer was Siemens Building Technologies, Freiburg.

For powerful sound, maximum reliability, and to meet all the essential standards, Bittner XR power amplifiers, Bittner SXL control technology, and speakers were integrated into an AV Digital VARIODYN D1 matrix. Monitoring and status messages are proceeded by the SXL technology, both at the low impedance and the 100 Volt parts of the system.

Music, announcements and alarms can be transmitted from several VARIODYN D1 operator stations to the main ice rink, the stands and adjoining parts in the stadium. During an event, it is possible to add areas in the stadium via simple keystroke at the VARIODYN D1 call station in the central control room without interruption of current audio. It is also possible to swap configurations of the SXL control unit per keystroke during an event according to the number of visitors.
